What is the difference between "Fat Burning" and "Cardiac Work" gym programs? 04.18.2007
Many obese patients who seek to fit their body try to combine diet and physical activity. They are right at that point. Usually people chose to train in a gym for 30-40 minutes at least twice a week, and many of them are concerned about selecting the most efficient pattern of training. Naturally the list of questions arouses: for how long the training should last? What is the recommended efficiency of the exercises? And so on. Today we will try to answer the most common question, that is "What is the difference between the Cardiac and the Fat Burn programs?"
One can hardly deny the fact that exercising at the training machines can be extremely boring. That is why equipment manufacturers try to entertain their "clients" during the exercises providing their machines with audio-players, lots of flashing lights and other gadgets. The various programs of workout and patterns of activity also serve as motivational tools and relive the boredom which some may experience at the gym. At the beginning of the "gym era" there was a conviction that training at a certain intensity level helps to expend more energy, i.e. burn fat. This was called the "Fat burning" regime. But the study has proved that this is not true.
Some manufacturers provide gadgets performing the metabolic calculations which can say roughly how many calories patients are burning off, but the result can be de-motivational when one observes how few calories he burns off, as a result of a hard and dull work out. This is why a good mixture of unbiased, healthy diet and physical activity is the solution of obesity problem.
It is also crucial to gradually increase the level of intensity of your physical activity to achieve improvement. Think of rotating a variety of activities; say, try to combine the cross trainer, the bike-machine and the rower in one hour of training. This rotation will decrease the chance of overuse injures and entertain you with some dynamic changes.
Consider consulting a gym specialist or taking a personal trainer who will conduct you towards your goals. A professional will help to avoid training traumas, teach you how to increase the duration of training sessions or raise the frequency of routine up to several times a week. Last, but not least – he or she will make the hours of training less tedious and the goal of fitness more close and real.
